Addiction — whether to substances, alcohol, gambling, or other behaviors — is almost always a response to something else: pain, trauma, stress, loneliness, or a desperate need for relief that nothing else has provided. Treating addiction without addressing what's underneath it rarely works.
Our approach to addiction counseling is compassionate, non-judgmental, and culturally informed. We do not shame. We do not lecture. We help you understand what you've been trying to manage, and build healthier ways to manage it.
What We Address
- Substance use — alcohol, cannabis, opioids, stimulants, and others
- Behavioral addictions — gambling, pornography, social media, food
- The underlying trauma, anxiety, or depression driving addictive patterns
- Relapse — understanding it as part of the process, not proof of failure
- Family and relationship impact of addiction
- The specific stressors — racial trauma, economic stress, community loss — that fuel substance use in BIPOC communities
Our Approach
We use a harm reduction framework alongside evidence-based approaches including Motivational Interviewing and CBT. We work with you wherever you are in your relationship with substances — whether you're ready to stop entirely, trying to cut back, or just beginning to question your patterns. All of it is valid. All of it is a starting point.
