Anger is not the problem. Anger is often the most honest response to injustice, betrayal, or pain. The problem is when anger — unexamined and unprocessed — starts to damage the things and people you care about, or turns inward and becomes depression or self-destruction.
Anger management therapy at Free Your Mind Services does not ask you to suppress your anger. It asks you to understand it.
What We Explore
- The roots of your anger — what events, patterns, or beliefs are underneath it
- The difference between anger as signal and anger as reaction
- How racial stress, systemic injustice, and microaggressions fuel legitimate anger
- Physiological regulation — what happens in your body when anger spikes, and how to work with it
- Communication skills for expressing anger in ways that are heard rather than feared
- Patterns from childhood — how you learned to handle (or not handle) anger in your family
A Note on Anger and Race
Black and Brown people are often pathologized for anger that is a completely rational response to racism. "Angry Black man" and "angry Black woman" are stereotypes used to dismiss legitimate grievance. Our therapists hold space for the full complexity of your anger — including the parts that are righteous — while helping you channel it in ways that serve your life rather than cost you.
